The Heartbreaks

Finally it has arrived, the interview with the amazing Heartbreaks has come through the door just before last post. It many ways this is the interview which started it all off. Over a year ago Virus and Bunty picked up a flip camera and decided the world of bands needed some help and we could provide it.

The first people we met where The Heartbreaks, they showed us around there tour bus, introduced us to macca and let us into the world of a band finding it's feet in the world, since then they have gone on tour with the Hurts around Europe, spent time on XFM and said hello to New York.

On Tour caught up with the amazing band Portugal The Man. They kept us amused with there tales of drinking whiskey, watching frogs to playing massive shows in Germany before they felt ready. When we saw them perform, all became clear, there experiences as a band had forged a tight and compelling stage performance, brilliant musical changes, driving energy and great unity.

On Tour: EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH DIRTY HANDS

Some of Dirty Hands members have known each other since childhood  and their common passion for  good old 50s and 60s tunes grew with them. But rather than being inspired just by music, the band's biggest inspiration is photographer Bruce Davidson’s series “Brooklyn Gang” of 1959. You can almost hear the photos of detachment and heartache, turned into Dirty Hands own distinctive melodies. On Tour had a chat with them during their sound check at the Bull and Gate. The  band also performed an acoustic set under the rain, check it out!!

On Tour: EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH GORGEOUS GEORGE

“It’s not romantic. It’s not nice. It’s not poignant. It’s real.” This is Gorgeous George and their Cockney infused Balkan folk, eastern European Jewish Klezmer and gypsy jazz. They beguiled On Tour's ears with their tunes and made our feet move uncontrollably. The band's new EP “Prick Tease” will be released in November.

On Tour met up with super chilled band Young Legionnaire. The band is made up of Paul Mullen (guitarist and singer for The Automatic and formerly yourcodenameis:milo), Gordon Moakes (bassist for Bloc Party), and drummer Dean Pearson. Their unflustered attitude contrast with their fiery post-hard-core sound. The band talked about the tacit rules of the tour buses.

On Tour caught up with Two Wounded Birds at the Camden Crawl 2012 launch. Two Wounded Birds, could easily be from 1960s sunny California, but are from 2008 Margate. Inspired by the Beach Boys and Rock n’ Roll lifestyle, Two Wounded Birds have created their own sound of well-crafted sometimes dark pop tunes. Their new single Together Forever just got released on 31st October.

Starting Chronic Monster records has enabled them to do it their way and their opinionated and passionate interview tells us why!
